LG Optimus Vu seen live, outsizes Galaxy Note
The LG Optimus Vu has surfaced in live photos. The large ‘phablet’ centers on a 5-inch display that uses a 4:3 aspect ratio resulting in wider 90mm body than the 5.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Note, which comes in at 83mm wide. The device is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, which runs from February 27 through March 1.
In addition to featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio, the display is an IPS-type and has dimensions of 1024×768 pixels. The Optimus Vu is also expected to sport a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor matched with 1GB of RAM. It will include 8GB of onboard storage, but should have a microSDHC slot to to bolster this. Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0 an 8-megapixel rear camera, GPS and NFC round out its key specs.
As with most of the new mobile phones expected to show at the World Mobile Congress, the device will launch with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which does not include native support for its dual-core processor. However, an Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update is expected to follow after its launch, but without an official timeframe for release as yet.
