Samsung may have 11.6-inch, 2GHz Tab for WMC

A fresh rumor backs a Samsung Galaxy Tab running at 2GHz to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Android and Me claim to have unknowingly played with the device at a special media-only closed door Samsung seminar at CES. It is said to sport Samsung’s latest dual-core Exynos 5250 processor that is built on ARM’s latest Cortex-A15 architecture, which incorporates its next-gen Mali-T406 GPU.
As with a recent report suggesting that Samsung was prepping an 11.6-inch Galaxy Tab, Android and Mebelieves that the Korean tech giant will unveil a tablet with “a display larger than 10-inches.” At the previous two WMC events, Samsung as released its flagship smartphone for the year as its headlining device. In 2010 it was the Galaxy S and 2011 saw the Galaxy S II. However, recent reports suggest that the Galaxy S III may not be unveiled at WMC this year, to shorten the lead-time between its launch and general availability.
Given the possibility that the Galaxy S III may not be unveiled at WMC, it is likely that the company will want to steal the show with another headline grabbing device. If it was indeed the Galaxy Tab 11.6 that was handled by Android and Me, it would appear that Samsung may be in a position to have it on-hand for a special unveiling at WMC.
In addition to sporting a chip that offers the performance of a quad-core ARM Corex-A9 chip in a cooler-running dual-core package, the new Exynos 5250 is also expected to produce 5 times the graphics performance of previous generation Exynos processors. The Galaxy Tab 11.6 is also expected to beat Apple to unveiling a device with a WXQGA (2560×1600) resolution, as is expected on the rumored high-end version of the upcoming iPad 3.
